WHAT IS WELLNESS?

Wellness is an active process of becoming aware of and making choices toward a healthy and fulfilling life. Wellness is more than being free from illness, it is a dynamic process of change and growth. "...a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being, and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity."

A BIT ABOUT THERAPY

Personalized Attention for All Your Needs

I implement effective psychotherapy methods to instill self-understanding among patients and encourage them to adopt new attitudes and feelings towards life situations. It is essential to keep in mind that therapy is not a magic pill or a quick fix: therapy is a healing process that necessitates participation and investment from the client and therapist alike. But in the end, making small changes to self-defeating behavior and coping with feelings of sadness, fear, and pain can bring life-altering results.

Therapy can be hard, maybe the hardest thing you ever do. It's vital that you feel comfortable with your therapist and that we both agree that the interventions provided will be a good fit to help you on this journey.

TELEHEALTH THERAPY

I continue to offer telehealth services to all client's receiving services in the States of New Hampshire and Maine.

I am a certified Tele-Mental Health Provider and am comfortable providing a variety of services, including EMDR, via my secure on-line connection.  Telehealth is a great way for individuals who live in rural areas of NH or ME and/or are otherwise unable to come into the office for face to face appointments to access necessary supports and services.  All you need is an internet connection that is capable of streaming videos and a device with a camera (your smart phone is sufficient). Telehealth services are covered by insurance in the exact same way as if you were seen in the office.  It is important for client's to understand that they have to be located in the State of New Hampshire for the entirety of their session due to current licensing laws.  Your location information will be requested at the beginning of each session to ensure compliance.  If you are hesitant, I encourage your to give it a try to see the many advantages it offers.

EMDR

Getting Past Your Past

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidenced based form therapeutic intervention that helps people heal from trauma or other distressing life experiences. It has been extensively researched and proven effective for the treatment of trauma.  You will find it to be a powerful and transformative process with many people reporting that their symptoms are greatly reduced in only a few sessions!  I am certified through EMDRIA completing level 1 and 2 as well as annual continuing education to support my ability to meet my patient's unique needs.

DIALECTICAL BEHAVIORAL THERAPY

Adapted for Private Practice

Dialectical behavior therapy or DBT is a modified type of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). Its main goals are to teach people the insights and skills to live in the moment, develop healthy ways to cope with stress, regulate their emotions, and improve their relationships with others.  I have adapted this curriculum based treatment for use with individuals and incorporate DBT concepts and skills into nearly every session.
